PDF Merde It Not Easy to Learn French A Story in Easy French with Exercises and English Translation Audible Audio Edition France Dubin Books
This audiobook should be the first novel you try in French! Â
Following a story in French can be difficult, even for advanced students. French novels are usually full of idiomatic expressions. They use complicated tenses, complex sentence structures, and often slang.Â
This audiobook is in simple French. It's about the joys and the frustrations of an adult learning French. It includes a good dose of humor and a few exercises.

- Finally, an introductory book, written in simple French with quick translations available as needed, and designed for adults! The vocabulary is not extensive but just what you need to wander Paris, alone or with a friend instead of an organized tour – shop the street markets, take the metro to the places you always wanted to see, don’t act or be treated like an ugly American. French people are prepared to accept you, maybe even like you, if you try to speak their language and observe certain simple conventions of civility that may be a bit more formal than ours, and this book is a great start. I wish I had had something like it when I began seriously trying to learn to speak French at age 43 – a single woman, an empty-nester, and ready for a few adventures. Spend time with this book, maybe take an adult-ed class (for an introduction to French pronunciation), save up, and rent an apartment in Paris for a week. At 70+, I look back on 8 fun vacations in France. Bon voyage!
- Yes, finally a fun and relatable book that makes learning French so enjoyable. I laughed out loud because I recognized these characters/students and followed their adventures of learning French with great anticipation. I was so caught up in their lives that I forgot I was actually reading in French. I enjoyed the wonderful illustrations that increased my understanding. Also I got to learn many words and phrases that would never be in a textbook.
I recommend to anyone who loves learning while having fun! - One gets the sense from the very beginning of this book that France Dubin is sharing with us wisdom about how to best approach learning the French language. In the guise of a student diary, she presents very digestible bite-size pieces of grammar, expressions and vocabulary, all the while serving up enticing information about France as a destination. She presents the lessons as diary entries at a nice pace (first all in French, then in English in the second half of the book) and never fails to inject humor or irreverence to keep the book from becoming just another beginner to intermediate language text. I enjoyed the ride and would recommend this book to anyone wanting to get a foothold with French.
- I’ve always wanted to read a book in French - but usually, within a few pages I already have a long list of vocab and it seems too much to take on. This book is ever so enjoyable- relatable - READABLE! Even for someone relatively new to French.
Dubin has a super way of engaging the reader ( student ) . It’s easy to pick up, hard to put down.. but because of how she wrote it.. you can stop and start without losing your place. No reason not to be able to read at least a few mintues a day - if not much longer! Strongly recommend to anyone dipping their toe in the pool of reading a book in a second ( or third ) language. . Just super ! - learning to read French with this book actually IS easy! Each diary entry not only teaches new idioms or practices new grammar patterns but also offers a wry look at an adult learner's challenges and victories as she journeys from a rank beginner to being able to communicate everyday ideas in present, past, and future while expanding her vocabulary. Written completely in French, the first section of the book integrates simple exercises and new grammar points with everyday vocabulary , while the second section offers an English translation. A truly delightful way to learn French.
- This book was fun to read and easy to follow. I liked Ms. Dubin's sense of humor throughout the book. The way it's structured makes it perfect for a foreign reader. When there was a word I didn't yet know, it was easily inferred within the dialogue even before going to the back to read the translated paragraphs.
I found this book to be useful and appropriate for a beginner/intermediate level. I definitely recommend it to anyone learning or interested in learning French or to anyone with a good sense of humor. - It is certainly not easy for an adult to tackle French but this delightful little book makes the effort easier. The vocabulary is interesting and there are translations if needed. A delightful sense of humor prevails throughout the activities and adventures and this certainly helps to cement words and phrases.
C'est bon!! - Great French story book that makes learning and understanding French easy and a lot of fun. Having the English translation is a great tool. Definitely worth the purchase.
