"I've read every story in this series and several of the author's other stories and I've got to say that this particular story felt like it was a rush job. I'm curious if the author got a new editor. There were far more grammatical mistakes in this book, especially when you got to the first sex scene about halfway through. There were needed words missing to make a coherent sentence and other times there were words added. There were at least 6 of these instances solely in that first sex scene which really pulled me out of the story each time I came across another one. That's not to mention many others scattered throughout the book.
In addition, there's no real resolution to this story. We don't get to see a final outcome for the protagonist or any consequences for the bad guy. It's extremely frustrating to read a story that basically gives up at the end.

Nobody actually gets to see or react to her bear at the end which is disappointing. We have no idea how the change went. I understand that you have more books in the series but really, a book about this specific character should at least include the biggest moment of her life, thus far. Then there's the whole crazy-ex/bad guy. So he's a shifter and he's been apprehended but there's absolutely zero resolution there. There's some weak talk about taking all of his human assets. How is that to be accomplished? Are they going to out him to the world (which could be important but just like with anything, a forced outing is not cool at all)? What kind of trial does he go through, or does he? Does a trial out him and the story of how he treated her to the entire world? It seems like that would've been best case scenario. Anyway, it just felt like the book wasn't actually finished.
None of this is to say that I wouldn't read the next book in the series, I just hope the author and editor take more time with it. I know your fans are probably constantly begging for more but quality is important and this particular story didn't have as strong of a plot or as complete an ending as the previous entries in this series."

💥I have voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my own and honest. - I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and I also bought it. I love shifter stories and Cecelia Lane’s are some of the best I’ve read. Runaway Mate is the fourth book in the Bear’s Den Series. Meghan has run away from her fiancé and her mother. She plans to hide away until her new job begins in about a month. Unfortunately, Bentley, the man she broke up with, is wealthy, influential, and immersed in the pro-human movement. Meghan has stopped in Bearden, a shifter community that suffered at the hands of a pro-human attack. Soon, she fortuitously meets Gray as he saves her from a suspicious group of ‘attackers’, and he senses immediately that she’s his mate. Gray has been having trouble with shifting while he sleeps ever since the community was attacked. His bear is too wild and close to the surface but as soon as he met Meghan it calmed down. Once Meghan’s ex realized he couldn’t force her to return to him, Bentley began manufacturing situations where Gray or his sister or others in Bearden would get in trouble. There was definitely a surprise near the end!! I truly wanted Gray and Meghan to get their HEA but with Gray registered and Bentley relentlessly NOT letting Meghan go, their situation seemed hopeless! You have to read this book to find out the ending!!

OMG! So Good. I Loved it.
Gray and Meghan are wonderful characters that will tug at the ole heartstrings. Whether it's Gray fighting with his inner bear or with Meghan trying to get away from an ex, you'll find yourself with giddy excitement or feeling scared at what's happening.
Must Read, Great Storyline, And if you enjoy Sexy growl worthy Bears, then this book is for you, oh yeah.

Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog. - Gray has a troubled bear in him and he doesn’t know if he will make it to the end of the year. Not until Maghen show up in town. When he saves her from being kidnapped by her ex that’s the first time he smells her and knows she is just what he needs to calm down his bear. So keep reading this very enjoyable story and see how much more trouble will happen between them ! !
