"Every time I open this book I fear it may be the last. If you're reading this you're obviously interested in Sandman already so I won't waste your time talking about the story. It's fantastic, we all knew that. Rather, I think it's important to note for new readers that the spine on this book is rather weak. Even though it's more expensive, I would recommend getting the absolute editions instead."

- I LOVE this series, I adore Neil Gaiman for his deep imagination, and I bought the omnibus collection specifically because I wanted my own copies of the entire series. Omnibus' seemed more practical than individual volumes. Omnibus Volume one is masterfully crafted, I have no concerns over quality and for as large as these books are it truly feels as Volume one will last more than a lifetime. However after feeling and hearing the quality that went into making Omnibus Volume one, Omnibus volume two is completely disappointing. Externally they seem identical, same color pattern, likely same material, etc., so externally it appears as though it'll last as well as the first volume. When opening volume one, you feel the euphoric stiffness of brand new book binding. When opening Volume two, you feel terror that it'll fall apart in your hands. It's really depressing. The front cover swings open easily as though it's been opened thousands of times before, crinkling and cracking the whole time. Laying it on its spine, open to the middle, I find myself very concerned about whether or not it'll hold together. The individual pages seem fine, no printing errors have been noticed, but I may never open it again for fear the pages will soon fall out.
- We ordered Volumes 1 and 2, having never read either before but having heard that the series was really good. Volume 1 arrived in great shape, and stayed that way as my wife and I each read through it. It felt durable, and it would easily lays open. But from the very first time we opened Volume 2, the binding has been creaking and cracking, and feels fragile. Unfortunately, the return window had ended by the time we finished Volume 1 and discovered the problems with Volume 2.
I'm not even going to attempt to review the story, since that is so subjective, but, if you are someone who likes to curl up in bed with a book, this publication is a little too large and too heavy for that... We did compare our copy to a friend's publication that had the first ten comics, and this publication has crisper images and brighter colors, which make it both beautiful and easier to absorb.
(We reviewed Volume I at five stars and Volume 2 at three stars for the durability issues) - Wraps up the second half of the Sandman saga in the second of two volumes- a much more rugged and interesting presentation in this hardcover edition compared to the mass market paperbacks. Looks great on your shelf too. Worth having even if you've already read the story once because of the many references Gaiman threw into this work.

- This volume is a work of art, both in presentation and in content. Neil Gaiman's Sandman series is already a known quantity, but even so, the stories still are engaging and frightfully still applicable to contemporary times. Some have complained about the binding. I have not yet experienced any problems with mine. But then, I have only read through it once, and quite carefully.
- This will be a collectible. The binding is solid and the pages are laid out well. I know a newer paperback omnibus is out, but for the price difference, this is certainly better. Large, thick paperbacks show a lot of wear and tear, but this one will hold up well.
- I LOVE the Sandman series so this review is nothing against the story or artwork itself, more so the way the book was put together. The first volume I bought was perfect, the binding was right and secure and durable.. but this one (the second volume) arrived HORRIBLY intact. The glue is undone on the spine of the book, there was tears and rips between the binding of the spine and cover page.. was really, really disappointing.
- This omnibus contains issues 38-75 and is the companion to volume one. Neither of the volumes contain the Dream hunter comic or novel or the Sandman Overture. The orginal price of this volume is 150.00 U.S dollars so getting it cheaper anywhere is a blessing. But if you can find it cheaper its still worth the money. Its a big heavy leather bound collection that would make any Sandman fan happy.
